The Probus Club of Molesey

 

1. Title - The Club will be known as The Probus Club of Molesey.

 

2 Aim - To promote fellowship amongst retired professional and businessmen.

 

3 Membership - Membership shall be limited to 65 Members not including

   Emeritus Members, subject to review, and shall be open to professional and

   businessmen resident in the Borough of Elmbridge who have fully or partially

   retired. At the discretion of the Committee, an applicant who is resident in a

   Borough adjoining Elmbridge, or who is a member of another Probus Club, shall be

   eligible for membership of the Molesey Club.

   An applicant for membership should be willing to attend monthly meetings and to

   take part in some of the social occasions, periodic lunches and other activities

   organised by the Club. An applicant shall be proposed and seconded on the

   approved Form by existing members of the Club, and on the approval of the

   committee shall be deemed to be a Member of the Club.

 

4 Constitution - There shall be a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Honorary Secretary,

   Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Speaker Secretary and the affairs of the Club

   shall be managed by a Committee consisting of these Officers and one other

   member. The Chairman shall retire from office after two years. Officers and

   Committee member(s) shall be elected at the Club's Annual General Meeting.  

   Three members of the committee shall constitute a Quorum and the Committee 

   shall have the power to co-opt additional Committee members, as required, to 

   ensure effective management of the Club. At the Club’s Annual General Meeting 

   the Committee may invite members of long service who through infirmity cannot

   attend meetings to become Emeritus Members of the Club subject to the 

   agreement of a majority of members present at the time. They shall not be liable 

   for a subscription.

 

5 Meetings - Ordinary meetings of the Club shall be held on the Second Monday

   of each month and will include a review of Club activities in the preceding month

   and proposals for the following month. When possible a talk on a subject of

   interest will be given by a Guest Speaker or a Member. The Annual General

   Meeting of the Club shall be held at the July meeting each year.

   Voting shall be by show of hands, or by ballot, as the members present at the

   meeting shall decide. In the event of an "equal" vote, the Chairman shall have a

   second "casting" vote. However, alterations to the Rules of the Club shall only

   be adopted on a majority vote of two to one of members present and voting at 

   the meeting.

 

6 Subscriptions - The annual subscription shall be £10.00 or any other amount

   decided by the members present at the Annual General Meeting. Subscriptions

   shallbe payable in July each year. For members joining after March, the

   subscription for the part year shall be half the Annual Subscription, payable on

   election to membership. An Entrance Fee may be introduced on the decision of

   the Committee.

 

7 Accounts - An Income and Expenditure Account for the year to 31 May shall

   be prepared, audited and presented for Approval by Members at the Annual

   General Meeting. Bank Accounts for the Club shall be operated by the

   signature of the Chairman, the Honorary Treasurer, the Vice Chairman and the

   Honorary Secretary. An Honorary Auditor shall be appointed for the ensuing

   year at the Annual General Meeting.
